On Saturday, Aug. 9, Fluor and Eli Lilly and Company sponsored and participated in the annual Boone County Cancer Society Battle of the BBQ at Memorial Park in Lebanon, Indiana.
Food prep began at 3 a.m. as chefs prepped and placed more than 200 pounds of meat on the smoker, which helped feed a crowd of approximately 1,500 community members.
A team of Fluor interns were responsible for this year’s booth theme and set-up, which promoted Fluor’s sustainability efforts with the motto “Building a Better World.” Interns created a lift and learn board for kids that was built from site scrap materials and provided information on the area’s endangered species. In addition, interns assembled and distributed bird feeder kits that contained recycled paper rolls, bird seed and instructions.
The event raised more than $102,000 for the Boone County Cancer Society.
