Feeding a Crowd

As work progresses on the Lilly Lebanon site, the number of hungry workers continues to grow. Providing a variety of quality food options is an important way to continue attracting the best workforce. Meal options need to be attractive so teams stay on site for meals and breaks.

“Our goal has always been to use local businesses whenever we can,” said Fluor Office Manager Seth Nycum, who oversees most of the catering and food coordination for the 3,000-plus person site. “We want to support and help great businesses grow.”

Here are just a few of the Boone County partners who are helping to keep workers on the LP1 site fed.

Daily lunch service
Brady Martin and Christian Cummins
Brady Martin of Unforgettable Catering was one of the first Lebanon Project food partners. As the workforce has grown, Martin’s team stepped up to provide daily on-site lunch options. Martin currently operates Monday to Friday at two site locations, with plans to add more as the need arises.

“Watching the site grow and truly change our community for the better has meant the world to me,” Martin says.

General Catering
Tony Amich
Based in Mechanicsburg, On the Go Catering has been a regular food provider for meetings, classes, site-wide breakfasts and more.

“Working with the LP1 site has allowed us to scale our business in ways that may have taken us months or years to achieve. We were able to hire more employees, purchase more equipment, and at every step, it paid dividends back to the city, county and state through lower unemployment and extra tax revenue,” says owner Tony Amich.

Site canteen vending service
Erik Askew & Wasey Kheiri
Workers craving a quick snack can find chips, drinks and other options in site vending machines provided by Boone County based WE Snack Company. Owners Wasey Kheiri and Eric Askew started their business to serve the growing Lebanon Project site.

“We knew serving the Lebanon Project would be a good start to our business, but we didn’t expect it to go from zero to 100 as quickly as it did,” Askew said. “It’s awesome to know when workers take a break, we’re helping them get what they need.”

Food Truck Fridays
Riley Bennett
Site-wide Food Truck Fridays provide workers with more variety at lunch time. Currently, four food trucks rotate to different construction canteens each Friday. Triple B’s in Lebanon serves more than 150 meals each visit.

“The LP1 Site has impacted my business in an astounding way. I have been able to grow from just me to three full-time and two part-time employees. The more mouths we feed, the more business we get. I’ve even had LP1 workers text me prior to Food Truck Fridays to ask what site canteen we will be at that day!” says owner Riley Bennett.

Site-wide events
Jenna Scott
Jawbone BBQ in Advance is a go-to caterer for large, site-wide events, often bringing food for more than 2,500 people at a time.

“We are grateful that such a large corporation has community spirit and is willing to help a small, family-owned business like ours grow. I have been impressed by how much Fluor and its partners consider the community and by how appreciative and thankful the workers are when we feed them,” says Jawbone Manager Jenna Scott.
