LP1 Team’s Commitment to Community

Spring 2025 will mark two years since the Lebanon Project team broke ground to build Eli Lilly and Company’s largest manufacturing facility in the world. Over the last 24 months, the team has also been building critical relationships focused on supporting the local community that many staff now call home.

Community Relations and Communications Manager Jeff Wagner was among the first Fluor team members to move to Lebanon to work on the project. One of his first conversations was with the
team at the Boone County Economic Development Corporation in Lebanon. His ask: Who in the community could Fluor partner with to support not just the build but the company’s desire to give back to the community?

The question and subsequent conversations surprised many people who live and work in Boone County, but it is standard operating procedure for Fluor, a global company with team members who are passionate about supporting communities in which they work.

Wagner says, “We’re a global company whose purpose is ‘We Build a Better World.’ We do it not only with concrete and steel but with the people and desire to add lasting value to areas where we’re working. This opportunity wouldn’t be possible without the trust and confidence of our client.”

Partnerships with local organizations such as the Boone County Economic Development Corporation, Boone County Chamber and the Community Foundation of Boone County are invaluable to supporting and guiding Fluor’s community relations work.

Julie Reagan, CEO, Community Foundation of Boone County: Through their contributions, commitment to giving back and desire to help our community, Fluor has become a critical partner in helping the Community Foundation of Boone County address local unmet needs. Their efforts have gone beyond business operations, with investments in community development that deeply impact the lives of our local residents. Fluor’s partnerships with local organizations and support of impactful causes have not only strengthened our community’s core but also demonstrated their dedication to building a thriving place for all who call Boone County home. We are appreciative and grateful for Fluor!

Sean Reaves, Executive Director, Boone County Chamber: What stands out most about Fluor is their genuine dedication to becoming an integral part of the places in which they operate. They don’t just see Boone County as a location for work; they approach it as a home in which to invest and care. This approach has fostered a deep connection with the community. Fluor’s model of integrating with communities shows a real commitment to mutual growth and respect. I believe it sets an example of corporate engagement that I’d love to see others emulate.

Shari Richey, Boone County EDC Board Member, Boone County Council At-large Member: I’ve been amazed at how quickly Fluor has acclimated to Boone County. The communication to the community regarding the LP1 Project has been robust, as has been Jeff Wagner’s presence in and around the county. To see Fluor’s leadership leaning in to get to know the people who live here as well as the business and non-profit community has been nothing short of Herculean. Not only are they providing project management services to Lilly in the LEAP Project, but the company is adding long-term value in the county via volunteerism, engagement with the non-profit community and many other behind the scene efforts.
