Seth Nycum
Fluor office manager
Seth Nycum is as close to the heartbeat of the LP1 project as you can get. Prior to joining Fluor as office manager in 2023, Nycum managed the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering firm and other construction sites, which gave him the much-needed skills to manage the demands of a 600-acre construction site.
What is one of your favorite things about the Lebanon community?
I interact with a lot of local businesses in my role. Everyone I have dealt with has been super friendly, easy to work with and excited about the project. You can’t meet the needs of a project this size without the support and help of local players. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the local business owners and helping to enrich the community.
What is your role with the LP1 project?
I handle logistics within construction trailers for day-to-day operations, including visiting groups and contractors arriving on site, locating facilities space for employees and trade partners, working with janitorial staff to keep things clean, ordering supplies, managing on-site food, organizing events and meetings, and the list goes on. Think of my job as everything behind the scenes to enable staff to focus on doing their job.
What’s the best thing about your job and/or the project?
Every day is an adventure. I might go in with a plan, but inevitably it will change and I enjoy that. This is a huge, growing project with a lot of moving parts and changes that happen on a daily basis.
Where’s one of the most interesting locations you’ve ever worked or visited? After college, I worked for a summer at Mount Rainier National Park in Washington at a place called the Paradise Inn. It was a cool experience. I had the best of both worlds. On off days I could go hiking around the mountain, but I could also visit Seattle regularly for great music and food.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
I was born and raised in Indiana and now call Pittsboro home. I enjoy spending time with my family. I have kids who do a lot of sports, so we’re busy. We also enjoy going out to Heritage Lake and hanging out with the family.
Zuby Boulware
Fluor director of contracts management
Zuby Boulware has spent 33 years focused on contract management with 26 of those years working for Fluor. Boulware grew up in Paris, Texas, where she was hired by Fluor to support a local project. She saw first-hand how Fluor’s investment in that community made a positive impact. She joined the LP1 project last winter and moved to Lebanon, where she has enjoyed getting to know her neighbors. Boulware also has a home in Nashville, Tennessee, where she and her husband (also a Fluor employee) hope to retire someday.
What is one of your favorite things about the Lebanon community?
I love the variety of offerings and all of the community activities– parades, BBQ festivals, the county fair. It’s a small town that has been very welcoming. I like that my neighbors know me. We help each other out and everyone is friendly.
What is your role with the LP1 project?
I manage all subcontracted work for the project. My team is responsible for the bidding process, awarding work and vetting companies. We also manage contractors throughout the life of the project. We try to keep as much contract work local because it puts money back into community and makes it better. This is a great city, and as we can help invest in the local community we will leave our mark in a positive way. That’s what we want to do.
What’s the best thing about your job and/or the project? Why?
I like the interaction and the people. I like that its different every day. This is my dream job. I’m one of the lucky people doing exactly what I want to do. I also love my team. We have a lot of local hires, which is great because they give tips on past experiences with local contractors as well as information on what’s going on socially on weekends.
Where’s one of the most interesting locations you’ve ever worked or visited?
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Island in Russia. It is a beautiful city and I was there for two years. I also got to spend some time in Taipei and then Taichung, Taiwan. I grew up in a town of 3,500 people so to have the opportunities I’ve had to travel the world is incredible.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
I come from a family of drag racers. I was a second-generation racer, my kids raced and my grandkids now race. We spend a lot of time at the drag strip. I also like to canoe and kayak, cook out and host family events.
